MicroCT, The Smithsonian & Toad Skulls

In addition to our 12 focal species, we now have 50+ additional toad species for microCT skull scanning.
With MicroCT scans I can look at all of the skull bones quickly in three dimensions without causing any harm to the preserved specimen.
This is allowing us to compare 18 earless toad species with over 40 eared toad species to look for correlated shifts in skull morphology associated with ear loss and regain.
Does losing an ear allow for an advantageous change in head shape?
Do all earless toads have smaller skulls?
Do earless toads have fully developed skulls?
With this microCT data I will answer all these questions and more soon!
